1)’きつかったけどあきらめなくてよかった’という表現です
tough きつい ←精神的、身体的にも両方の意味で使うことができます
be glad ~ ~してうれしい、よかった
give up あきらめる
2)’山の頂上までの間文句を言っていたけど、達成できてうれしい’ という表現です
complain 文句をいう
on the way ～の途中
complete 成し遂げる、達成する
I complained all the way up the mountain but I'm glad I made it to the top.
この場合、次のような言い方ができますよ。
ーI complained all the way up the mountain but I'm glad I made it to the top.
「文句をたらたら言いながら登ったけれど、頂上まで行けてよかった」
to complain all the way up the mountain で文句をたらたら言いながら山を登ることを言えます。
