"何の種目ですか"

空港で帰国するオリンピック選手に偶然会った
- At the airport, I met an Olympic athlete who was returning to their country.
その選手に、何の選手ですか/何の種目に出場しましたか？と聞いた。
- I asked them what sport do they do?/What event did they take part in?
「何の種目ですか」は英語で "What event do you compete in?" という表現を使います。"event" は「競技種目」を指し、"compete in" は「～で競う」という意味です。
例えば：
I happened to meet an Olympic athlete at the airport and asked, "What event do you compete in?"
