割り込む = to cut in; to thrust oneself into; to wedge oneself in; to muscle in on; to interrupt; to disturb 「仕方がない」とは色々な意味がありますね。この場合では、やめさせるために言っているので、「it's not a good idea」にしました。

「車間を開ける」は leave space、「割り込む」は pull inです。「しょうがない」はいろいろ訳せますが、「なんともすることができない」と考えて can’t be helpedが使えると思います。 If you leave enough space between you and the car in front, somebody will pull in, but it can't be helped. あなたと前の車の間にスペースを開けると誰かが割り込むが、それはしょうがない。 日本語では「自分」がスペースを開け、自分が「割り込まれる」というように常に自分が主語になりますが、英語では動作を取る人が主語になるので、「誰かが割り込む」という言い方をするのが普通です。

この場合、次のような言い方ができますよ。 ーIf you leave too much space between you and the car in front of you, other cars will cut in, but you can't really help that. 「前の車と車間距離を開けすぎると、他の車に割り込まれるが、仕方がない」 space between you and the car in front of you で「車間距離」 to cut in で「割り込む」と言えます。 ご参考まで！
